This picture takes the legitimisation of its foreground from our well-developed interest in extinct or exotic animals reconstructed or mounted for display. The artist saw the black howler monkey and its pose in the zoological collection of the “Joanneum” Provincial Museum. Entitled “the Guitar Player”, a reference to its pose and the lively musical scene in the streets of Graz, the photograph reminds us of the anthropocentric way we see nature, especially in urban areas.
