Stefan Römer lebt als Künstler und Autor in Köln, nachdem er die 80er Jahre mit unterschiedlichsten Betätigungen an verschiedenen Orten verbrachte: Er schlug sich mit Diskothekendekorationen und Performances durch und organisierte ein selbstverwaltetes Kulturzentrum. Auf einer langen Reise durch Asien führte er Wandgemälde in Hotels und Bars aus und nahm Tanka-Malunterricht beim Hofmaler des Dalai Lama. Später reiste er durch Marokko als Maler. Auch entschied er sich in Peru, anstatt wie geplant, auf einer archäologischen Grabungsstätte ein Praktikum zu absolvieren, einer schamanistischen Einweihung zu unterziehen. Er gab das Fanzine »Nervenpolaroid« heraus und arbeitete Ende der 80er in der Galerie Erhard Klein in Bonn.

Stefan Römer lives in Cologne and is an artist and writer. He spent the 1980s in various places, doing a wide variety of things. He got by financially by decorating discotheque interiors and putting on performances. and organized a self-administered cultural centre. On a prolonged tour of Asia he painted murals in hotels and bars, and took lessons in Tanka painting from the Dalai Lama's court painter. Later he travelled in Morocco as a painter. While in Peru, where he had planned to meet the practical requirements of an archaeology degree by excavating a burial site, he decided on a change of direction and submitted himself to a shamanistic initiation ritual. He published the fanzine "Nervenpolaroid" and at the end of the 80s he worked at the Erhard Klein gallery in Bonn.

Co-founder of the group "Frischmacherinnen" , 1993; subsequently produced series of events and films in Paris (subjects: art, politics, the city); co-organizer of Messe 2 ok, Cologne 1995.
